Field note

What surprised us on the ground

“Asakusa feels most generous in the hour before the shops open.”

The famous corridor is only one layer. The district becomes easier—and more human—when you plan one early walk, use the side streets, and treat the temple as a living place rather than a photo set.

Answers that save time

What is the easiest way from Haneda Airport?

Take a Keikyu Airport Line train that continues onto the Toei Asakusa Line. Some services are direct; otherwise make one simple transfer. Always check the destination shown on the train.

Is Asakusa worth staying overnight?

Yes for families, early risers and travelers who prefer quiet evenings. It is less convenient if late-night Shibuya or Shinjuku is your priority.

Can I visit with large luggage?

You can, but Nakamise and temple approaches become difficult after mid-morning. Store luggage at the hotel or station before walking.
